The purpose of the nursery ministry at First Baptist Hazel Green is two-fold.
- We wish to participate in the development of strong Christian homes by
encouraging active parental involvement in Worship, Bible Study, Parenting
Enrichment Opportunities, and Fellowship. Parents will not be able to truly
worship or participate in Bible study if they are concerned about their child's welfare.
- Our second purpose is to provide a Christ-centered environment that is safe and nurturing.
We want each child to:
- Feel special, loved, and accepted unconditionally
- Develop positive feelings toward God, Jesus, and people.
- Develop an awareness of the existence of God.
- Enrich his knowledge of God, Jesus, and the Bible.
- Know that the Bible is a special book that tells about God and Jesus.
- Think of the church as a friendly place where they can learn, enjoy good times with others, and attend regularly.
- Grow spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically, and socially.
- Feel comfortable and secure with adults and other children in a variety of situations.
- Grow in his/her independence by learning to solve his/her own problems.
- Begin to understand the concepts of sharing and taking turns.
- Practice showing love, respect, and acceptance of others.

The nursery department has Sunday school at 9:15. The same volunteer teachers staff the nurseries during Sunday School each week. We believe that this will allow your child to bond with their teachers and feel more comfortable at church. Bible stories are taught in Nursery Three and Nursery Four. Our teachers utilize the "LifeTruths" series that is produced by Lifeway Christian Resources.
Our nursery department is located in the new building. We have four separate nursery rooms. The children are divided into classrooms by developmental abilities.
- Nursery 1 - Newborns and infants
- Nursery 2 - Crawlers and beginner walkers
- Nursery 3 - Toddlers (ages 1½ to 2½)
- Nursery 4 - Two Year olds (2½ to 3)
Children should be potty-trained before they leave our nursery department.
Security System
We have a security system in place for our nursery and preschool departments.
Children in the nursery department will be dropped off and picked up at the nursery welcome center. Each child will receive a numbered security sticker. A matching tag should be placed on any items belonging to the child, as well as one given to the parents. The parents should fill out a sign-in sheet. This information will allow us to find the parents if there is an emergency, as well as convey important instructions to the nursery workers. Children will be released only to an adult with a matching security tag.
